This tour celebrates the expansion of our bike tour business from the central to the northern sierra. We have chosen a route rich in scenery and biodiversity. We leave Quito (where we acclimate to the altitude while enjoying the cultural milieu of the Colonial "Old Town"), head northwest on the old Nono road, dropping 2,000 meters in the first day to the Mindo Cloud Forest. Next day we climb out and ride to Bellavista Reserve where we have a gourmet dinner, enjoy the scintillating conversation of Richard, the owner, and sleep in a treehouse surrounded by tropical birds. Next day we head to Otavalo for the world-famous market where we enjoy the hospitality of the American owners of Ali Shungu Hotel. We then loop back toward Quito, crossing the ecuator and riding on an abandoned rail bed in the shadow of Volcano Cayambe. Our last night will be at Hacienda Guachalá (1580).

Riding into La Cienega Hacienda.
